Best IPTV player apps in 2026, by device (free first, paid where it matters)

The best IPTV player for most people is IPTV Smarters Pro on a Firestick or Android box, XOTT on a Samsung or LG smart TV, and IBO Pro Player or Hot Player on an iPhone. Free first, paid only where the free apps don’t work on your device. That covers nine out of ten setups we do.
This is for anyone who has a subscription, or is about to get one, and wants to know which app to install without reading forty forum threads. I’ve set these apps up on more tellies than I can count, so this is what works in 2026, by device, and what to avoid.
What does an IPTV player actually do?
The player is just the app that turns your login into a channel list. Your subscription gives you a username, a password and a server address, or an M3U link. The player takes those, fetches the channels, and shows them with a TV guide. The service is the same whichever player you use. Only the look and the reliability change.
So you are not choosing a “better service” by changing player. You are choosing a nicer remote, a faster guide, and an app that doesn’t get pulled from your TV’s store next month.
Which IPTV player is best on a Firestick?
IPTV Smarters Pro, installed through Downloader. It’s free, it takes the standard Xtream Codes login, and the remote works properly in it. If you want a bigger film library view, XtremeHD Player is also free and has our servers built into its list, so there’s no address to type.
The paid players, IBO Player Pro, Bob Player and Hot Player, look slicker and get updated more often. Each has a free trial, so try one after Smarters if the interface annoys you. The fee goes to the app maker, not to us, and it’s small.
One warning. A few of the newest Fire TV Stick models block sideloading altogether, so Downloader can’t install anything. If that’s your stick, message us before buying a paid app. The full Firestick guide has the Downloader codes and every tap.
Which player works on a Samsung or LG smart TV?
Not IPTV Smarters Pro. The smart TV version is no longer supported and it’s the single most common reason people message us from a Samsung. Use XOTT if you want free, or IBO Player Pro, Hot Player or Bob Player if you want something that runs smoothly on TV hardware and gets updated.
The paid apps log in differently. They show a MAC address on screen, and you add your playlist on the app maker’s website from your phone. It’s two minutes once you’ve seen it done, and the smart TV guide walks through it.
If your TV runs Android TV or Google TV, ignore all of that: install Downloader from Google Play and treat it like a Firestick.
Which player is best on Android phones and boxes?
IPTV Smarters Pro from the APK, or iMPlayer from Google Play if you want the nicest TV guide on a phone screen. Both take the username, password and server address straight from our message. IBO Player Pro is on Google Play too if you prefer the look.
Boxes without the Play Store use the APK link, same as a Firestick. The Android guide has the links.
Which player is best on iPhone and iPad?
IBO Pro Player or Hot Player, both from the App Store, both paid with a free trial. Free iPhone players appear and vanish from the App Store every few months, so I stopped recommending them. These two have stayed, and both work on iPad with identical steps.
Which player is best on Windows and Mac?
IPTV Smarters Pro has a free desktop app for both. On Windows there are also paid Microsoft Store players, Vu Player Pro and IPTV Expert, if you want a different layout. Mac users: Smarters is the one, and it logs in with the same details as everything else.

Free or paid: is a paid IPTV player worth it?
On a Firestick or Android, no, not at first. The free apps do the job. On a Samsung or LG TV, usually yes, because the paid ones are the apps that still get updated for that hardware. On iPhone, there’s no real free option, so yes.
What you’re paying for is a nicer guide, faster channel switching, and a developer who fixes things. What you are not paying for is better streams. Those come from the subscription, and they’re identical in every app.
Key takeaways
- The app doesn’t change the picture. Streams come from the subscription; the player only changes the guide and the remote feel.
- Firestick and Android: IPTV Smarters Pro, free, through Downloader or the APK.
- Samsung and LG: skip Smarters, it’s dead on those TVs. XOTT free, or a paid app with a trial.
- iPhone: IBO Pro Player or Hot Player, both paid after a trial, both reliable.
- Paid apps charge the app maker’s fee once, separate from any subscription, and every one here has a free trial.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use more than one IPTV player with the same subscription?
Yes. Install whichever app you like on each device and log in with the same details. The subscription limits how many screens play at once, not how many apps you install. One connection means one stream at a time, across all of them.
Why has IPTV Smarters Pro disappeared from my Samsung TV?
The smart TV version was discontinued and removed from the Samsung and LG stores. It can’t be reinstalled. Switch to XOTT for a free option, or IBO Player Pro or Hot Player for a maintained paid one. The login details are the same.
What’s the difference between Xtream Codes and M3U?
They’re two formats for the same login. Xtream Codes is a username, password and server address typed into the app. M3U is a single link that contains the same thing. Smarters-style apps use Xtream Codes; MAC-based apps like IBO and Hot take the M3U link on their website.
Do I need a VPN app as well as the player?
Not with us. The VPN is built into the server address, so there’s nothing extra to install. If you already pay for a VPN you can keep using it; pick a UK server close to you so it doesn’t slow the stream.
Which player has the best TV guide?
On a phone, iMPlayer. On a telly, the paid players, IBO Player Pro and Hot Player, have the cleanest guides. Smarters is fine and free, but its guide loads slower on older sticks.
Will the paid app keep working if I change provider?
Yes. You bought the app, not the service. Replace the playlist or login inside it and it carries on. That’s one reason some people prefer paying once for IBO or Hot.
